The Pegasus Story

So, the Pegasus in the first photo was one that I had worked on the other day and attempted to bake in the toaster oven. It didn't fit right in there so the wing tips and part of the hair burned :( I was so bummed out, but it was a result of me not being patient enough to wait on the full size oven to free up.

The one in the bottom photo is my second attempt; I used the same method but baked it in the regular oven so-as not to burn it like I had with the first one. It still needs to be painted and sealed, so it is not quite finished yet, the result is much better! Sculpting both ponies took me about 2 hours, so burning the first one was a real bummer after all of that hard work.

Sometimes in life (and in art) we work so long and hard on something only to become impatient when it's almost finished and make a mistake that makes the effort fairly irrelevant or sets us back. When that happens, it's important to fix what you can and redo what you can't fix or you won't arrive at the result you were hoping for. Learning from mistakes makes you stronger and wiser, and of course a better artist ☺
